Monster Troupe Dancers

The Monster Troupe's Dancers are a grass roots, community dance troupe which performs once a year at the Portsmouth Halloween Parade in association with the Monster Troupe. The number and members of the processional arts, dance group varies each year depending on community interest and is comprised of both non-dancers and dancers alike.

Our Dance Mistress, Tia Almeida Pike, has years of experience as a dance instructor, teaching people from all walks of life and helping to build community. Historically, Tia organized, choreographed and instructed a number of flash mobs around Portsmouth. Her most famous was "Jai Ho", a large flash mob a number of years ago in Market Square on Children's day.

Tia has choreographed and instructed the Monster Troupe Dancers since it's inception in 2017.

Want to Join Us???   No Dance Experience Necessary, we'll teach you!
We will be accepting participants through September 23.


How to Register:  
1) Email the Dance Mistress at Dancers@MonsterTroupe.com   to let her know you're coming. Include your full name and email address.

2) Please print out the liability waiver (there will also be copies available on site), fill it out, sign it and bring it to your first rehearsal.
The YMCA requires photo ID's for entry.

3) Be sure to JOIN our Monster Troupe Dancers Facebook Private Group just for Monster Troupe Dancers.
We share info about rehearsals, costumes, our sound system , videos, Monster Troupe updates etc.   To JOIN - Click Here

Rehearsal Location:  YMCA at the Seacoast has again generously donated our rehearsal space. You can get directions here.    (A photo ID is required by the YMCA for entry.)

Season Cost:  $20

Minimum Age:  16 years old

Dance Troupe Costume:  The dancers are responsible for making their own coordinated costume in conjunction with the "theme" as outlined by the Dance Mistress.

Attendance:  With the understanding that joining the Dance Troupe is a time commitment. We want to put on the best performance we can for the thousands of people who watch the Parade every year. To this end, excessive rehearsal absences will be discouraged.

Parade Details:  October 31st, 2020   7:00pm
